X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) is a superhero film based on Marvel Entertainment Group’s comic books. In 1986, Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr invite a young Jean Grey to join their school, the X-Mansion, at her parents’ house. Ten years later in 1996, industrialist Warren Worthington II discovers his son’s mutant abilities when he tries to remove his wings. In the present day, Worthington Labs announces a ‘cure’ for mutants and offers it to those who are interested in suppressing their X-gene. This piques the interest of certain mutants such as Rogue, who struggles with her harmful touch, while others are cautious. Magneto gathers a new Brotherhood of Mutants with those who oppose the cure and warn that it will ultimately be used as a weapon against their kind. With the assistance of Pyro, Callisto, and several other mutants, Magneto launches an attack on a mobile prison.
In the chaos, Mystique, Multiple Man, and Juggernaut are liberated from their captivity. During the skirmish, Mystique valiantly defends Magneto from a cure dart but unfortunately loses her own mutant abilities in the process. Betraying her sense of duty and friendship, Magneto abandons her in his pursuit of freeing all mutants. Meanwhile, Scott Summers mourns the loss of Jean Grey and seeks solace at Alkali Lake where she sacrificed herself to save them. However, when he is reunited with Jean’s physical form and they share a passionate moment, Jean unexpectedly unleashes her ultimate power and kills him. Xavier senses something amiss and sends Logan and Storm to investigate at Alkali Lake where they find only scattered rocks floating through telekinetic force, Scott’s glasses as evidence of his presence, and an unconscious Jean.
