Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham (2023), an animated superhero film, is based on the popular DC Comics character and produced and distributed by Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Serving as the 50th installment in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line, the story takes place in the 1920s when Bruce Wayne leaves Gotham for two decades following his parents’ tragic murder. In his quest to understand criminal behavior, he crosses paths with Oswald Cobblepot’s expedition team and encounters an ancient entity encased in ice. While confronting a crewman infected with one of its parasites, Bruce enlists the help of his protégés Kai Li Cain, Dick Grayson, Sanjay ‘Jay’ Tawde, and butler Alfred Pennyworth to contain the situation. However, they soon discover a sinister surprise awaiting them at Wayne Manor – the body of professor Kirk Langstrom possessed by a demonic force. As Bruce navigates this supernatural mystery, he is visited by Jason Blood – host of Etrigan the Demon – who reveals a shocking truth about Gotham’s future.

Bruce, Kai Li, and Dick were later invited for dinner at hunter Oliver Queen’s mansion. There, they were introduced to Harvey Dent, who shared Langstrom’s fascination with bats. Bruce, donning his self-made bat-themed suit as Batman, decided to investigate Langstrom’s work at Robin’s Row. He discovered that it was linked to the Cult of Ghul, a group devoted to an ancient demonic deity. The group needed the Testament of Ghul for their planned ritual. While searching for this book, Bruce encountered Talia, a member of the cult who stole it in order to resurrect her father Ra’s al Ghul. At the same time, Grendon used his newfound ice abilities to escape and killed Jay. Sadly, Dick didn’t survive his encounter with a crocodilian mutant. During his search for Talia, Bruce stumbled upon a book that revealed Ra’s’ connection to Iog-Sotha, an inter-dimensional demon with power over darkness.
