Wayward Pines (2015 — 2016)
Wayward Pines (2015–2016), a mystery science fiction TV series based on the novels by Blake Crouch and developed for television by Chad Hodge, follows the story of Ethan Burke, a U.S. Secret Service agent investigating the mysterious small town of Wayward Pines, Idaho. After waking up from a car accident with no way to reach the outside world or leave the town, Ethan discovers that two fellow agents have gone missing. He also reunites with his former lover Kate Hewson, who is now living in what seems like a perfect community. However, it soon becomes clear that the residents of Wayward Pines are trapped there by an electrified fence and strict rules enforced by Sheriff Arnold Pope. Any attempt to escape results in a ‘reckoning’ – a public execution carried out by the Sheriff. As Ethan works to unravel the truth, he also reconnects with his wife and son.
The second season features a mostly new primary cast, as some of the main actors from season one chose not to return or only make occasional appearances. This is due in part to their commitments to other projects during the gap between filming and airing season one. In this season, Dr. Theo Yedlin finds himself caught in the midst of the power struggle between Jason Higgins, leader of the First Generation who now governs Wayward Pines after the events of season one, and the rebel group led by Ben Burke, son of former protagonist Ethan Burke.
