Based on the comic book series by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, All-Star Superman (2011) is an American animated superhero film released direct-to-video from Warner Bros. It follows Dr. Leo Quintum and his team as they explore the Sun and are sabotaged by a booby-trapped genetically-enhanced time-bomb clone created by Lex Luthor. However, Superman manages to stop the clone, although in doing so he receives an overdose of solar radiation which gives him increased powers but slowly kills him. Thankfully, thanks to Clark Kent’s article, Luthor is arrested and sentenced to death. As a result, Superman decides to reveal his true identity to Lois Lane and takes her to the Fortress of Solitude where they spend some quality time together. However, when Lois unintentionally comes into contact with alien chemicals during her visit, she becomes paranoid due to Superman’s secretive behavior. To calm her down, he explains that he was simply trying to hide her birthday present – a serum that grants her superpowers for 24 hours. With both of them as superheroes now – known as Superwoman and Superman – they team up to stop an attack led by Krull in Metropolis alongside Samson and Atlas just in time for Lois’ birthday celebration.
Once the Subterranosauri are safely back in the Earth’s center, Samson takes the opportunity to flirt with Lois and presents her with a necklace – the prized crown jewels of the Ultra-Sphinx. Superman intervenes and urges Samson to step back, but Samson refuses and instead challenges Superman to various contests for Lois’ affections. After an intense series of competitions, including a double arm-wrestling match against both Atlas and Samson, Superman emerges victorious. As they spend the rest of the day together, Lois begins to lose her powers. Later on, Clark shares with her that he is facing a life-threatening illness before leaving to lead the city of Kandor to a new planet where it can thrive. Despite knowing that he may not survive the journey back, Clark assures Lois that he will return and she promises to wait for him.
