Hello there, Scooby-Doo! In 2005, an American animated adventure movie called Aloha Scooby-Doo! (2005) was released. It is the eighth in a series of direct-to-video films based on the popular Scooby-Doo Saturday morning cartoons. Our favorite gang takes a trip to sunny Hawaii, courtesy of ‘Goha Aloha’, a company that makes surf and beachwear. Daphne has been asked to design some new swimwear for them. While in Hawaii, they attend the Big Kahuna of Hanahuna Surfing Contest, which is now open to non-natives thanks to the mayor’s decision. However, not everyone is happy about this change – particularly Manu Tuiama and his close friend Little Jim. The locals are upset because their village is under attack from demons controlled by an evil spirit named Wiki-Tiki. To make matters worse, Manu’s girlfriend Snookie is kidnapped by these demons just days before the contest. As a result, many tourists and surfers leave the island. The locals believe that the spirit is angry about both the surfing contest being open to outsiders and the construction of Coconut Beach Condominiums on sacred land by a local real estate agent named Ruben Lal
When the gang encounters Jared Moon, a representative from the Goha Aloha-company in Hanahuna, they are intrigued by his tiki charms that supposedly offer protection from demons. Despite another attack at a feast, the mayor is adamant about not postponing the contest. Determined to uncover the truth behind these disturbances, the gang seeks out Auntie Mahina, a local shaman who resides deep in the jungle. Along their journey, Manu is seemingly abducted by the Wiki-Tiki creature. With Auntie Mahina’s guidance, they learn that the Wiki-Tiki is furious with mainlanders for participating in a Hawaiian tradition without proper descent. She instructs them to visit the monster’s cave in order to neutralize it and save Snookie and Manu from being sacrificed in the volcano. Additionally, she gives Fred a special necklace filled with an extract from a sacred root known as bola gawana – believed by ancient Hawaiians to ward off malevolent spirits.
