Batman: The Long Halloween (2021), an American two-part animated film from Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, is based on the popular storyline of the same name from DC Comics. Since Alberto’s death three months ago, the Holiday Killer has struck on multiple holidays, targeting both the Falcone and Maroni families. During this time, under Ivy’s influence, Bruce has transferred much of his assets to Falcone. However, Catwoman intervenes and saves Bruce from further harm. Alfred contacts the authorities and Bruce’s legal team to stop this illegal transfer. While investigating a murder on Mother’s Day, it is discovered that the victim was supplying weapons to Holiday. Later that evening, Scarecrow escapes from Arkham Asylum and injects Batman with fear toxin during their encounter. Reliving his traumatic past, Batman is eventually rescued by Catwoman and brought home. Amidst ongoing investigations into both Holiday and Chong’s murder, Gordon and Harvey question Bruce about his family’s ties to Falcone. Bruce recounts a childhood memory where he witnessed his father saving Carmine’s life after an attempt on his life by Maroni’s father, Luigi. He assures Gordon and Harvey that any connections between his family and Falcone ended after the tragic deaths of his parents as he believes it was in retaliation for saving Carmine.

On Father’s Day, Holiday kills Luigi, prompting Maroni to approach Harvey and offer to testify against Falcone in exchange for immunity. Catwoman later tails Falcone to a cemetery and witnesses him paying a hitman. On the Fourth of July, Batman is captured by Scarecrow and Mad Hatter during their bank robbery for Falcone. However, he manages to escape and overpowers them as they deliver the stolen money at the graveyard. Meanwhile, Falcone’s hired gun attacks Harvey and Gilda. Catwoman intervenes but is quickly knocked out alongside Harvey. When Harvey regains consciousness, he discovers the lifeless body of the hitman and a weapon belonging to Holiday near him. As police sirens blare in the background, he flees from the scene. In a public accusation, Carla Viti points finger at Harvey as being Holiday. At court with Maroni present, Batman meets Gordon and discloses his discovery of Holiday’s weapons in the Dents’ basement along with an Oxford University Pennant. During the trial proceedings, Maroni accuses Harvey of being Holiday before deliberately throwing acid in his face.
