Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! (2020) is an American animated comedy horror film and the thirty-fourth installment in the Scooby-Doo series. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment released this direct-to-video movie on October 6, 2020. In the film, the Mystery Inc. team is undercover at Elvira’s Halloween of Horrors Parade in Crystal Cove to apprehend the Haunted Scarecrow. The culprit is eventually revealed to be Dr. Jonathan Crane (a.k.a. the Scarecrow), a former escapee from Arkham Asylum. Velma cracks the case by tracing a fan letter sent to Elvira and detecting gas leakage in the air, but their victory is short-lived when drones carrying fear gas are unleashed by Crane. Amidst the chaos, Scooby-Doo and Shaggy manage to take down the drones using Halloween candies as projectiles. Before being taken away by authorities, Crane hints that Velma may have overlooked something in her deduction process. Despite this setback, their actions are praised by all, including the Sheriff for putting an end to these spooky incidents.
As the gang discovers the severe damage to their beloved Mystery Machine during their pursuit of Dr. Crane, Fred’s distress is evident. Meanwhile, Scooby and Shaggy decide to go trick or treating, assuming that the mystery has been solved. Along the way, they stumble upon a stray drone in a pumpkin patch with ‘Tot Alli Frame’ etched on it, as well as a truck filled with hazardous chemicals. When these chemicals mix with Dr. Crane’s fear-inducing formula and come into contact with the pumpkins, they transform into animated monsters. As tiny pumpkins take flight and begin pursuing Scooby and Shaggy, the duo rushes back to town. They interrupt an interview with their fellow Mystery Inc. members to alert them about the monstrous ‘Jackal Lanterns’ in the pumpkin patch. However, their warning falls on deaf ears and they are scolded by Velma for their interruption.
