Justice League Dark: Apokolips War (2020)

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War (2020) is an American adult animated superhero film from Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Home Video. Directed by Matt Peters and Christina Sotta, the screenplay was written by Ernie Altbacker and Mairghread Scott. After multiple failed attempts to conquer Earth, Darkseid targets the Justice League with an army of Paradooms – powerful hybrids created from Parademons, Doomsday, and Superman’s DNA. While the Teen Titans defend Earth, the League infiltrates Apokolips, unaware that Darkseid is spying on them through Cyborg. The heroes are overpowered and many are killed or enslaved by Darkseid’s forces. Two years later, with Superman depowered and branded with liquid kryptonite, he escapes Apokolips and joins forces with Raven to stop Darkseid’s plans to mine the planet’s core using devices called ‘Reapers’.

John Constantine is being sought after for his location spell, in order to track down Damian Wayne. While initially hesitant to assist, Constantine eventually agrees to help. He has had doubts about his own bravery ever since he fled during Darkseid’s initial attack and left behind his partner Zatanna. However, using his abilities, Constantine is able to find Damian at a League of Assassins outpost. It is then explained to Damian that they need him in order to save his father Batman from Darkseid’s control. After some hesitation, Damian reluctantly joins the group. The team makes their way to Stryker’s Island in Metropolis and there they meet up with Clark’s wife Lois Lane. She has recruited the Suicide Squad, now led by Harley Quinn, to join their cause. Clark and Lois reveal their plan to invade LexCorp and use a boom tube to return to Apokolips and defeat Darkseid. Meanwhile, as the remaining heroes battle against the Reapers, they are ultimately overwhelmed and killed by Paradooms. Inside the building, Lex Luthor surprises them by confessing that he had been working with Lois all along in order gain information on Darkseid.
