An animated superhero film, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013), was directed by Jay Oliva and written by Jim Krieg. Based on the 2011 comic book crossover Flashpoint by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert, it follows the story of Barry Allen (aka the Flash). While visiting his mother’s grave, he is interrupted by a break-in at the Flash Museum. Involved in a battle with his enemies – Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, Heat Wave, Mirror Master, and Top – Barry learns that they have been hired by his longtime nemesis Professor Zoom. Together with the help of the Justice League, they are able to thwart Zoom’s destructive plan for Central City. As Zoom is taken into custody, he taunts Barry about his mother’s death. However, when Barry wakes up the next day, he realizes that everything has changed: his powers have vanished, his mother is alive again, his wife Iris is married to someone else, and even more shockingly – there is no Justice League. He soon discovers that Aquaman has brought destruction upon Western Europe while Wonder Woman has led her army to conquer the United Kingdom.
Following the collapse of an alliance between two opposing forces, due to Wonder Woman’s fatal act towards Aquaman’s wife Mera for confronting her about an affair, tension has escalated into war. In response, Cyborg assembles a team to eliminate both parties and approaches Batman for assistance. However, Batman’s refusal leads the government to reconsider their plan and enlist pilot Hal Jordan to carry out an attack on the Atlanteans using an alien spacecraft. Barry pays a visit to Wayne Manor but is unexpectedly attacked by what he believes to be Bruce Wayne; he soon discovers it is actually his father Thomas. In an attempt to explain himself, Barry reveals his Flash costume only to realize that the one in his ring belongs to Professor Zoom, causing him to suspect Zoom of altering the timeline.
