At a press conference hosted by Lex Luthor, a new Superman is introduced to the world, but Lois soon discovers he is actually a clone, created by Dr. Dabney Donovan and known as Superboy. However, both Eradicator and Cyborg Superman retreat from the battle.
That night, Cyborg Superman pays a visit to Lois in an attempt to prove his authenticity. Lex becomes frustrated with Superboy for his immature behavior. The President hires the Justice League as bodyguards for the unveiling of their new Watchtower. Suddenly, the presentation is attacked by Parademons, who appear through a boom tube portal. The League is transported to another planet and declared dead, while Cyborg Superman saves the President and is recognized as the real Superman. Angrily, Lex discloses to Superboy that they share DNA and murders Dr. Donovan, who had revealed that Superboy was their best clone creation. With assistance from Steel, Lois uncovers that Cyborg Superman is actually Hank Henshaw – a former astronaut who blames Superman for not saving him and his wife and has taken on his identity in order to destroy his legacy.
