Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School (1988)

Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School (1988), an animated comedy horror, was produced by Hanna-Barbera for syndication in the Hanna-Barbera Superstars 10 series. The two, along with Scrappy-Doo, were hired to teach gym at Miss Grimwood’s Finishing School for Girls. Upon arrival, they discovered it was a school for daughters of supernatural beings such as Sibella (Count Dracula’s daughter), Elsa Frankenteen (daughter of Frankenteen Sr.), Winnie (daughter of the Wolfman), Phantasma (known as Phanty for short), and Tanis (named after an Egyptian city) – all inspired by Universal Monsters. The school also housed unique residents like a floating white hand, an octopus butler, a two-headed shark in the moat, Legs the spider who helps with volleyball matches, Miss Grimwood herself, and her pet dragon Matches. Shaggy and Scooby may have been frightened at first, but they eventually decided to stay on as gym teachers.

During the annual volleyball match against Calloway Military Academy, the boys tamper with the ball using a remote control. However, Scooby accidentally swallows the remote, leading to the girls’ victory. On Halloween night, the girls’ fathers host an open house party where Scooby and Shaggy are initially apprehensive about being surrounded by ghosts and monsters. To their surprise, the fathers are kind and welcoming, making the party a success. Before leaving, they remind Shaggy and Scooby to protect their daughters from any harm or face serious consequences. Meanwhile, a power-hungry witch named Revolta and her minion, Grim Creeper, devise a plan to hypnotize the girls into becoming their slaves. They begin by manipulating Shaggy into taking them on a field trip to Barren Bog, while Matches is told to stay behind. Unfortunately, while on a hike at the bog, Calloway Cadets end up trapped in quicksand but are saved by Elsa and Tanis.
