Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur (2011)

Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur (2011) is a direct-to-video film based on the classic cartoon. During an investigation, Shaggy’s fear disorder causes him to react excessively, leading to the disbanding of Mystery Inc. To help him relax, the gang takes him to a calming spa resort in La Serena. There, they meet the owner, Mr. Hubley, and Scooby-Doo has a frightening encounter with a dinosaur which he chooses not to share with Shaggy. Later on, they encounter Professor Svankmajer and her student Winsor, who are conducting a paleontological dig nearby. Soon after, they encounter what appears to be a gigantic ghostly dinosaur. When Shaggy becomes unable to move due to fear, Scooby bravely saves him from danger before being pursued by the creature himself. Luckily, Fred comes to their rescue by driving the Mystery Machine and knocking the dinosaur off a cliff.

Mr. Hubley shares the legend of the ‘Phantosaur’: a ghostly dinosaur summoned by Native Americans to reclaim their land stolen by European colonists. Through hypnosis, Mr. Hubley boosts Shaggy’s confidence and bravery with a secret word, which also has the power to restore Shaggy’s normal state of mind. However, neither Mr. Hubley nor Shaggy can remember this keyword. As Daphne, Fred, and Velma examine dinosaur and snake tracks at the dig site entrance, Shaggy causes trouble with a group of bikers at a nearby buffet. The angry bikers utter the secret word while threatening Shaggy, triggering his hypnotherapy-induced abilities. In a physical brawl, Shaggy defeats the biker gang and agrees to a motorcycle race. But as he parts ways with them, he accidentally hears the secret word again, returning him to his usual self.
