Scooby-Doo! Mask of the Blue Falcon (2013) is an American animated superhero comedy film and the nineteenth installment in the direct-to-video series. The gang, accompanied by Scooby and Shaggy, head to the ‘Mega Mondo Pop! Comic ConApalooza’ in southern California, where they plan to participate in a costume competition as their beloved comic book heroes, Blue Falcon and Dynomutt. Fred is particularly excited to catch the new, grittier version of Blue Falcon on screen, produced by Jennifer Severin and starring Brad Adams. While at the convention center, they cross paths with Hank Prince, owner of the local comic book store that Shaggy frequents, and his nephew Austin. They also run into Owen Garrison, star of the original Blue Falcon show. Despite initially hoping for an autograph from Garrison, they end up listening to him vent about the studio’s plans to erase all evidence of his iconic portrayal for their latest production.
At a movie trailer screening, a monstrous figure resembling Mr. Hyde from the original show is spotted by Shaggy and Scooby, causing chaos with a swarm of bats. The gang agrees to investigate the situation and returns to the convention the next day in anticipation of another attack. There, they cross paths with Jack Rabble, a once-famous battle bots champion now earning money through autograph signings. Fred, Daphne, and Velma have their suspicions about Garrison as the culprit, but Shaggy and Scooby are loyal to their idol and refuse to believe he could be responsible. However, they later find evidence through surveillance footage that points to other potential suspects at the convention – including Severin who is using the incident for publicity for her film, and Adams who has expressed dissatisfaction with his role and hopes this will divert attention away from him so he can quit.
