Superman: Man of Tomorrow (2020) is an American animated superhero film, the first in the Tomorrowverse, based on the DC Comics character. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, and distributed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, it follows the story of Kal-El, a Kryptonian infant sent to Earth after his home planet’s destruction. He is raised as ‘Clark’ by farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent. Years later, Clark is an intern at the Daily Planet and known to the public as “the Flying Man” when using his abilities. When he attends the launch of LexCorp’s orbital rocket telescope, journalist Lois Lane uncovers a sinister plan that would destroy Metropolis and leads to Luthor’s arrest for gross negligence. Meanwhile, while working as a janitor at S.T.A.R. Labs, Rudy Jones shares information with Clark about extraterrestrial experiments taking place inside.

As the rocket hurtles towards Metropolis, Clark emerges as the Flying Man, halting its descent. Little does he know, a mysterious figure in a trench coat is keeping a close eye on him. Meanwhile, at S.T.A.R. Labs, an unidentified flying object catches Clark’s attention and brings him face to face with Lobo – an extraterrestrial bounty hunter with a target on his back. In the midst of their fierce battle, Rudy becomes collateral damage and is exposed to an unknown substance. As Lobo discovers Clark’s weakness to Kryptonite, a stranger in the form of a Martian suddenly appears and draws Lobo’s attention away from Clark. With the help of Earth’s sun, Clark regains his strength and ultimately defeats Lobo. Later that night, the Martian reveals himself as J’onn J’onzz to the Kents and enlightens Clark about his Kryptonian heritage. He also cautions Clark about revealing himself to humanity due to their potential xenophobia – despite Clark’s objections.
