Agent Carter (2015–2016), an American television series, was created by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely for ABC. It is based on the Marvel Comics character Peggy Carter and follows her roles in Captain America: The First Avenger and the short film Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the show maintains continuity with the franchise’s films and other television series. Starring Hayley Atwell as Captain America’s Peggy Carter, it is set in 1946 after World War II has ended. Dealing with a serious blow as a marginalized woman in a male-dominated society, Peggy works for the covert SSR while also embarking on secret missions for Howard Stark. Alongside balancing administrative work and navigating life as a single woman, she must also come to terms with losing her love, Steve Rogers. drawing inspiration from Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.
In the first season, set in 1946, Peggy Carter is faced with the challenge of balancing her regular office duties at the SSR in New York City while also secretly aiding Howard Stark. Stark has been falsely accused of supplying dangerous weapons to enemies of the United States. To uncover the truth and eliminate the weapons, Carter enlists the help of Stark’s loyal butler, Edwin Jarvis. Moving to Los Angeles in season two, Carter must confront the dangers of the Atomic Age and contend with a powerful organization known as the Council of Nine. She forms new alliances, adjusts to a new city, and may even find herself drawn towards a potential love interest.
