Ant-Man (2015)

Ant-Man (2015), an American superhero film, is based on the Marvel Comics characters Scott Lang and Hank Pym. It is the 12th film in the popular Marvel Cinematic Universe and was produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In 1989, scientist Hank Pym left his position at S.H.I.E.L.D. after learning of their attempt to duplicate his Ant-Man shrinking technology. Concerned about the potential danger of this technology falling into the wrong hands, Pym vows to keep it hidden for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, in present times, Pym’s estranged daughter Hope van Dyne and former protégé Darren Cross have taken control of his company, Pym Technologies. Cross is dangerously close to completing his own shrinking suit known as the Yellowjacket, much to Pym’s dismay. Meanwhile, well-meaning thief Scott Lang is released from prison and moves in with his old cellmate Luis. He then decides to make an unannounced visit to see his daughter Cassie but is met with disapproval from his ex-wife Maggie and her fiancé Paxton, who happens to be a police detective, for not providing child support.

Due to his criminal record, Lang is unable to hold a job. In need of money, he agrees to join Luis’ crew and participate in a burglary. During the burglary, he breaks into a safe but only finds what he thinks is an old motorcycle suit. Deciding to keep it for himself, Lang tries on the suit and accidentally shrinks himself to the size of an insect in the process. Frightened by this unexpected turn of events, Lang panics and returns the suit to the house. However, he is immediately arrested before he can leave. Pym, the homeowner, visits Lang in jail and secretly smuggles the suit into his cell with the intention of helping him escape. As it turns out, Pym had manipulated Lang through Luis without his knowledge into stealing the suit as a test. Now seeing potential in Lang, Pym wants him to become the new Ant-Man and steal Cross’s Yellowjacket suit. With Hope’s help, Pym begins training Lang in combat and how to control ants while also keeping tabs on Cross’s nefarious plans.
