Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), a film from Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, follows the story of Scott Lang / Ant-Man and Hope Pym / Wasp, based on Marvel Comics characters. The movie serves as a sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man and is also the 20th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After being placed under house arrest for two years due to his involvement with the Avengers, Lang finds himself in trouble again when Hank Pym and his daughter Hope discover a tunnel to the Quantum Realm. Their goal is to rescue Janet van Dyne, who has been trapped there since shrinking to sub-atomic levels in 1987. During Lang’s previous visit to the Quantum Realm, he had unknowingly become quantumly entangled with Janet, leading him to receive what appears to be a message from her. Despite their strained relationship due to Lang’s past actions with the Avengers, he contacts Pym about Janet just days before his house arrest ends.
Hope, Pym, and Lang execute a plan to abduct Lang and use a large ant to fool FBI agent Jimmy Woo while they make their escape. When they receive a message from Janet indicating that she may still be alive, the three of them work together to construct a stable quantum tunnel that will transport them to the Quantum Realm. To obtain a crucial part for the tunnel, they turn to underworld figure Sonny Burch; however, Burch sees an opportunity for profit in Pym’s research and betrays them. In an attempt to defend themselves, Hope dons her Wasp suit and faces off against Burch and his men. But their fight is interrupted by a mysterious masked woman who is unstable in the quantum realm. Lang joins in to help defeat this ‘ghost’, but she escapes with Pym’s lab, which has been reduced in size to fit inside a suitcase.
