The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022)

The upcoming The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022), written and directed by James Gunn for Disney+, is based on the popular Marvel Comics featuring the superhero team. This special, a Marvel Studios production, is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and shares continuity with existing films and television shows in the franchise. The story follows the Guardians as they celebrate Christmas and search for a gift for their leader Peter Quill. Recently, they’ve acquired Knowhere from the Collector and welcomed Cosmo the Spacedog as a new member. With Christmas fast approaching, Kraglin regales them with a childhood tale of how Yondu once ruined the holiday for Peter. Meanwhile, Mantis and Drax come up with a plan to find Quill a perfect present to lift his spirits after losing Gamora.

Together, they decide to travel to Earth to retrieve Quill’s childhood idol, Kevin Bacon. Mantis and Drax venture into the bustling city of Hollywood, Los Angeles in search for their target, Bacon. After exploring iconic sites like Grauman’s Chinese Theater and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, they make a pit stop at a bar before obtaining a map detailing the residences of famous celebrities. With this newfound knowledge, they track down Bacon’s lavish home in Beverly Hills. As it turns out, Bacon is anxiously awaiting his family’s return when he is suddenly startled by the unexpected arrival of Mantis and Drax. In a desperate attempt to flee, Bacon is met with assistance from the police. However, Mantis uses her powers to put them all in a trance and swiftly takes Bacon along with her.
