Loki (2021 — 2023)

Loki (2021–2023), an American television series on Disney+, is the third installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and premiered on June 9, 2021. The show is based on the character of the same name from Marvel Comics and shares continuity with the MCU films. Its first season, which aired from June to July 2021, was met with positive reviews, particularly for its performances. In November 2018, a series featuring Hiddleston as Loki was confirmed and Waldron was hired as creator in February 2019. Herron later joined in August of that year. Martin served as writer for the first season while Benson and Moorhead directed most episodes of the second season, along with DeLeeuw and Farahani. Filming took place in Atlanta for the first season and in the United Kingdom for the second. The second season, consisting of six episodes, aired from October to November 2023 as part of Phase Five of the MCU and also received positive reviews, praising its conclusion, musical score, and development of Loki’s character.

Following his theft of the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), an alternate version of Loki finds himself in the hands of the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA). This bureaucratic organization exists outside of time and space and is responsible for monitoring the timeline. Loki is faced with a difficult decision: either be erased from existence as a “time-variant” or help restore order to the timeline and prevent a greater threat. Throughout his journey, Loki embarks on a thrilling crime-solving adventure, traveling through time and pursuing Sylvie, another version of himself who is causing trouble. As the first season ends with the creation of a multiverse, the second season sees Loki collaborating with TVA agents such as Mobius M. Mobius, Hunter B-15, and others as they strive to defend the soul of TVA from various threats across the multiverse. Their mission includes a search for Sylvie, Ravonna Renslayer, and Miss Minutes across different timelines.
