Werewolf by Night (2022)

Featuring the character of the same name from Marvel Comics, Werewolf by Night (2022) is a special on Disney+ directed by Michael Giacchino and written by Heather Quinn and Peter Cameron. It marks the first Marvel Studios Special Presentation in the MCU, maintaining continuity with the franchise’s films and television shows. In the aftermath of Ulysses Bloodstone’s death, his widow Verussa summons five seasoned monster hunters to Bloodstone Manor. There, they are tasked with competing for leadership and the powerful Bloodstone itself. Among them is Jack Russell, while Ulysses’ daughter Elsa defies Verussa’s warning to also join the hunt.

The hunt commences in a vast maze on the manor grounds, where the hunters’ target is a captured monster implanted with the Bloodstone. After an encounter with Elsa, Russell finally locates his friend “Ted” and aims to rescue him, while Elsa fights off and eliminates another hunter. Russell entrusts Ted to carry out their escape plan and unknowingly runs into Elsa once again as she seeks refuge in a mausoleum. They team up to free Ted and retrieve the Bloodstone for Elsa. Another hunter falls victim to Ted’s attack, while Russell breaks down the wall of the maze to aid their escape. As Elsa removes the Bloodstone from Ted, he flees into the forest. However, when Russell touches it, it violently reacts, revealing that he too is a monster. Just then, Verussa and the remaining hunters arrive on scene.
